THE BOOGIE MAN
If you’re lucky, or blessed enough to be around little kids hunting for Easter eggs this weekend, you might be on an invisible hunt of your own. More than a few of us have lost our composure, as of late, that is. Some of us are fearing the boogie man like the little ones distracted with an Easter egg hunt often do.
“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” (NIV)
The real boogie man wants to “sift you like flour”. But he has no rule over any of us until God gives him the green light.
In this special season and celebration of the One who yielded once and for all as the only “Perfect” sacrifice on our behalf, it’s a time for celebration and thanksgiving, not fear of death.
Death has been conquered. Death has no sting. And God knew before you or I walked on this rock the number of our days and the number of the ones that would be taken by this virus.
I read some interesting facts checked by fullfact.org;
“One of the worst days so far for Coronavirus was the 10th of February. On that day 108 persons in China died of Coronavirus.
But, on that same day 26,283 people died of cancer
24,641 died of heart disease
4,300 died of diabetes
and on that day, suicide, unfortunately, took more lives than the virus did, by 28 times.
Moreover, mosquitoes kill 2,740 people every day, humans kill 1,300 fellow humans ever day, and snakes kill 137 people every day.
Take a deep breath and wash your hands.”
There have been worse days since then, but the point is spot on.

Fear sells, and if the masses think this virus that has been around for decades, and will take far less lives than the flu this season, is so big and so powerful, they’ll give up more rights… And for a security that a government can’t give.
Only God can give security eternal. As we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ lets do it with thankful and fearless hearts. For HE is risen indeed!
Happy Easter to all!

He is Risen! That’s all we need to know in order for hope to be instilled in us! Thanks Floyd!

Hope you were one of those getting to watch little ones hunt Easter eggs. We got to see pictures of ours. I’d rather have been there in person, but pictures made me smile.
Grateful that we have Easter right in the middle of this because we need the reminder of resurrection. If Jesus walked out of the grave, we will follow him out of ours too. Happy Easter to you and your family, Floyd.

You are so right Floyd, fear does sell and it’s always there just under the surface to drag us down. It’s hit us several time I think because of this move we are doing at the end of April. We have too many options and all of them are good ones but the enemy of our soul wants us to worry that we will make a wrong choice. As if we have not made them before and recovered. Just got to keep our hearts set on Him and not what is going on around us. Ace tells me those numbers for other deaths almost every day and you know it works, it drives my fear away. Nothing new under the sun. Good post brother.

“Fear sells.” I’m not sure there are truer words to be spoken these days. Another stat to add to yours. Last year 35000 died from the flu. I’m not saying this virus thing is not dangerous and we do need to use our smarts, but to live in fear is wrong. We serve the ONE who dispels fear. We serve the One who said, “Fear not.” In fact, He said, “Do not fear the one who can kill the body. Be more concerned about the one who can kill the soul.” (My paraphrase). I choose to live cautiously (and some even question that) but also without fear. Good point this weekend my friend. And thanks again for visiting “my church” Sunday.

Hi Floyd,
What have you been up to lately? How are you and your family?
I know. This pandemic has been such an odd time in history.

Hi, Floyd, I just went on to try to email you through your contact page, and it only allowed me a very few characters, so I was unable to complete my note to you. I don’t know how, but somehow I have lost your email address. Just wanted to let you know that I am continuing to lift you in prayer. Each time I come across your name in my permanent prayer list, I pray for you. Hoping all is well with you? It isn’t like you to go so long in between blog posts. Hopefully, you are just busy and enjoying life! I am also continuing to pray for your friend, Perry, and his family. God bless you and keep you and your family safe in these crazy times!
