STILL THE SAME
The Easter egg hunt is different now, but it’s still the same in a lot of ways. Back in the old days the eggs were real. I didn’t necessarily like eating the hardboiled eggs, but my siblings and I were up for the thrill of the hunt.
I loaded coins, jelly beans, and gummy bears into the plastic eggs this morning then placed them strategically around the backyard. Truth and tradition are passed down and then we do our part in the process. It’s different now, but it’s still the same.
The two grandsons got new trucks to push around, which they do naturally and usually at warp speed. We used to have flimsy Easter baskets to haul the painted by hand eggs in. The boys use their dump trucks. It’s different now, but it’s still the same.
The story of Easter is told at home and at church. Kids learn but don’t grasp till they’re a little older. I’m not sure any of us grasp the depth of the Supreme sacrifice of the Son and the Father. The limited view and wisdom we have from our fallen flesh gives us just a glimpse of the grace we have been granted.
May we ponder the gift of eternal life granted to us due to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ every day of the year and not just this one. I’m thankful that although many things change, the Truth of the love and sacrifice for all who choose to believe will never change.
Where and how we celebrate the Resurrection of our Savior may be different, but the Truth is still the same.
Happy Easter to you and yours.

Happy Easter to you and yours also Floyd. We had a wonderful sermon this morning but I extra loved the one on Good Friday. I got to sing this morning with the worship team, first time in a while. Think I will go out and buy some of the on sell Easter candy left over. I love jelly beans. Blessings brother.

This Easter was a special one for my oldest grandchild, Virginia. She spent the weekend with us, so Friday night, I read her the account from her story Bible of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. The next day, there was an Easter egg hunt at our church, but not without the story being told once again using both puppets and real folks. Then today at Easter service, Virginia heard the message yet one more time. Floyd, it has truly sunk into her mind and heart! She told me this weekend that she is ready to move on to a real Bible, one I will give her on her birthday this July. I am beyond thrilled! How great is our God!
Easter blessings to you and yours!

I love this, Floyd. Things change but they stay the same. I haven’t thought of using dump trucks as Easter baskets but I haven’t had boys yet. 🙂 Happy Easter to you and yours!

It’s funny how the older we get the wiser we get along with it. It’s also funny how some people grow older, yet don’t get any wiser. I guess that’s where God pours out our unique blessings.

The truth is still the same. No truer words were spoken my friend. This truth, the truth of the resurrection, makes it all make sense. Without it the cross is just a tragedy. And this truth will always be true.

So true, Floyd. There are so many cool ways to witness with Easter eggs that I wasn’t aware of as a kid. At our family gathering yesterday we made Resurrection Dish Gardens (saw how to make them on Facebook) and told the kids the story of Jesus and the empty tomb. Such a fun way to share such an important truth.

Thank you for your message, Floyd. Yes, it’s different, but it’s still the same.
However, because of Easter, may the weight of our sins be different soon, and not be still the same.

I hope you had a blessed Easter, Floyd, and hope you enjoyed watching those grandsons find their eggs! It is so exciting to see things through those young eyes and puts everything back into its right perspective. God bless you, brother.

Our church enjoyed a Passover dinner on Friday night, and Sunday we celebrated the Resurrection. Yes, it is different now, but yet it is the same. After church, the kids went out in the field where the plastic eggs were filled with kisses and other candy. I remember coloring eggs as a child and also for my children. Great post and your grandsons’ are all boys.
