MAKARIOS NEW YEAR!
Yeah, I looked up the word for “happy” used in the New Testament. It seemed familiar to me so I dug through my archives and found that I’d looked it up back in 2010 as well and used it in an end of the year post there too. I considered reposting it, but it really wasn’t very good…
Funny how we look back on things in life with a different perspective and see the reality of what we couldn’t then. I fully expect that to be the case with this year as well. We grow, we gain wisdom, insight, maybe even polish a skill along the way, but the things that leave us without regret are the things we do to bring honor to our Father.
May 2014 be a year followed by the rest of the years we are granted this side of eternity that are with the proper focus and leave us without regret, only wisdom. “Happy” translated from the Greek as used in the New Testament is the fancy word I used in the title of the post; “Makarios”.
It means, ‘supremely blessed – fortunate – well off’. So Happy or Makarios New Year to you and yours! May you be fortunate and Supremely blessed by our heavenly Father as we strive to bring Him honor in the blessing of another year granted.
God bless you in 2014…

Brother I just posted a sentence from your post on my fb wall. Ace and I just witness a break through conversation with our prodigal son this morning. There has been a major turn around in his heart…his perspective had taken a major leap forward due to an event that happened last night. He is ending 2013 with a repented heart and with God’s grace will start 2014 with the same heart. I know so many have been praying for Jared and for that we are grateful and he is too. Every major turnaround starts with one step forward. Happy New Year
One more thing, perspective is my word for 2014.

I’m so happy and encouraged for you and Ace!!! It’s all in our Father’s time. I have to give thanks to God for His answer to prayers! I knew it was going to happen, Betty! Not because I’m smart, I just know your and Ace’s hearts and faithful prayer and Jared’d past. I pray miraculous blessings in all the lives of your family, Betty. What a gift you’ve received and given to all of us to celebrate!!! Happy New Year!!! Happy New Life!!!

And a Makarios New Year to you, too, Floyd! I love the idea of blessing….received blessings from God, blessed to be a blessing, and blessing Him. I’m reading a neat book right now called The Blessing Life by Gerrit Dawson:

I’m afraid I’ve not thought much of blessing God, but this author is helping me to understand the preciousness of that. Floyd, may the Lord continue to bless your writing. You have been such a blessing to so many (including me!) on this wonderful, blessed blog.
Happy 2014! (Yikes! That sounds positively futuristic! 🙂

Thank you. Bless you, too. And this was a nice explanation.
ALSO, I’m sorry if I’m not following through as often. Running into too many “brain” issues and connecting with more and more. YOU are one of the MOST important, though. And I greatly appreciate your comments on my blog.
Hope this year is filled with blessings for you and yours.

‘Funny how we look back on things in life with a different perspective and see the reality of what we couldn’t then…’ Man, ain’t that the truth.
Makarios new year to you too. That word’s got a certain ring to it I just like. Striving to bring Him blessings and honour is definitely a good footing to start on.
