IT’S CALLED VISION
They were dream killers, imagination stealers, but they didn’t have ill intent, they were trying to help. Their job was to try to get youngsters ready for the unforgiving world and in most of their eyes and mind’s dreaming was for kids. To their way of thinking, there was little use for dreaming as an adult.
Far too many of the teachers and adults in those days of my childhood sounded eerily similar to the tagline for the popular kids cereal, Trix; “Silly rabbit – Dreams are for kids!”
I’m honored to be guest posting over and my friend Bernard’s site, http://leadtoimpact.com/ Bernard has a special gift to encourage and lead. He has authored two books and blogs about vision, how powerful a tool it is, and how to hone in on that special gift that all of us have to find our place in this world for our Father and His purpose.
I guarantee if you need a boost you’ll find it in the powerful words of a wise man in my friend and brother, Bernard. See you over at his place.

You’re giving your age away, Dave!

I confess, I haven’t really dreamed for years. Any more, I no longer know what I used to dream about. Dreams aside, I’ve never even had a focused “vision” for my life. If it seems like I’m complaining, please forgive me, that is neither my intent nor motivation here, just an honest observation. But for me, it does beg the question “What happened to the dreams … the dreaming?”
I don’t know.
But as God is a God of 2nd, 3rd, 4th … ad infinitum chances, I’ll have to trust that He will restore – or maybe show me for the first time – the vision and purpose He intended for me to “thrive” in for the days He gave me to walk this earth.
Great post, Floyd! As usual …

Hi Floyd, I tried to post this comment over at Bernard’s place but for some reason it wouldn’t work. Something about authenticating yada, yada, yada.
Maybe you can send it over to that conversation.
Have a great day!

Never mind, Floyd. Got it taken care of. I had to re-sign in to Disqus to post my comment. It had appeared I was still signed in when I tried the first time, I wasn’t.
Sorry for the bother.

Never a bother, David. I always enjoy and look forward to your input. You’re the real deal, brother. Thanks.

Without a vision the people perish. Call it a goal, a dream, or a vision, we must set our sights to accomplish what we desire in life and also in spiritual things. If you are a visionary in a team, the team must all be pulling in the same direction, otherwise going in circles will be what happens. Children should be encouraged to reach out and push toward learning that can be applied to perhaps life’s work. Learning to think and solve problems helps too.

You, Bernard, and myself, seem to be walking similar paths and routes in this life, Lincoln. Honored to share it with you!

There is just not enough room to dream these days. Efficiency. Economy. Time management. None o of that allows for a good dream to perculote

Great point, David. It’s like the machines are doing the dreaming for us… no wonder I don’t trust them!
Friday, October 18, 2013 @ 10:35 am
I don’t wonder that so many people see the same problems differently – it is when God gives the vision that things work best. The rest? Look around you – the machines are doing the dreaming…sad.
Great post, oh seasoned traveler and guest poster extraordinaire 🙂

It’s scary that you said that, Rick. I said the exact thing myself. The machines are doing the dreaming and having the visions!
How crazy is it that we would surrender the very best of treasures to technology? I’m betting the Beach Boys song, “I Get Around” was rolling through your head when you typed this! Thanks, Rick.
